Delco Special Ed Teacher Charged With Indecent Exposure, Lewdness

CHESTER HEIGHTS, PA — A Delaware County high school teacher is facing charges related to inappropriate internet interactions with a former student.

Pennsylvania State Police said Derek Vattelana, 38, of Glenmoore, has been charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness, and possession of an instrument of crime.

Vattelana is accused of having inappropriate internet interactions with an 18-year-old woman who is a recent Garnet Valley High School graduate, police said.

He was arrested Thursday, according to police.

Vattelana is a special education teacher at the high school.

The Garnet Valley School District told Patch the alleged incident, which the district called extremely troubling, occurred in July and off school grounds.

According to the district, state police were notified of the alleged incident when the district’s director of safety and security contacted authorities regarding the allegations.

Teen charged after ‘hate-motivated comments’ made during online learning session, York police say – Toronto

York Regional Police say a teen has been charged after “hate-motivated comments” were made during an online learning session earlier this year.

Police said they were contacted by a high school staff member on April 15 after racist comments were made during an online session with Grade 12 students.

Officers said an “unknown student” made anti-Black comments until the event had to be ended.

Investigators identified a suspect and on Thursday, an 18-year-old man from Markham was arrested.

Tristan Stronach has since been charged with indecent communications, police said.
