Human Rights Campaign Equality Votes PAC Launches Final Mobilization Campaign to Educate and Mobilize Equality Voters

The ads target hundreds of thousands of “Equality Voters” in key districts where their turnout is critical to the outcome of the Presidential contest statewide. Partnering with the data and analytics firm Catalist to create an “Equality Voter Model,” the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) built on decades of voter and polling data to assess the degree to which a person is likely to support pro-LGBTQ policies — from marriage equality and adoption by LGBTQ parents, to laws that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Supporters in any state can go to to register to vote, verify their voter registration, find out about early in-person or mail voting options and receive election reminders. For more information on how to get involved, sign up to volunteer, or join an advocacy training, visit HRC’s Equality Voter Action Center.

Howard County Board of Education candidate Larry Pretlow II suspends his campaign for District 2 seat

Howard County Board of Education candidate Larry Pretlow II announced the suspension of his campaign in a social media post last week.

Pretlow is running against Antonia Barkley Watts for the District 2 seat on the board. With the Nov. 3 election about five weeks away, and mail ballots being sent and filled out by voters, it is too late for Pretlow to officially drop out of the race and remove his name from the ballot.

Pretlow’s post on his candidacy’s Facebook page reads: “Mr. Pretlow’s campaign for Howard County Board of Education in District 2 is suspended.”

Pretlow couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday.

In the June primary, Pretlow finished second in District 2 to move on to the general election against Watts. Pretlow received 22.6% of the vote to narrowly finish 172 votes ahead of James Cecil, who garnered 21.4% of the district’s voters. Watts, meanwhile, won a

Pennsylvania lawmakers pose TOPLESS for campaign to educate voters on new mail-in ballot rule

A trio of female lawmakers from Pennsylvania have posed topless for a new get-out-the-vote campaign which aims to educate voters on new mail-in ballot rules that were announced in the state for the upcoming election.

Allegheny County council members Bethany Hallam, 30, and Liv Bennett, 42, and House candidate Emily Kinkead, 33, all went nearly nude for the attention-grabbing campaign, which warns voters not to forget to seal their mail-in ballots inside the provided secrecy envelope — or else they’ll be thrown out by election officials.

‘Desperate times call for desperate measures!’ Hallam tweeted last week. ‘So your favorite elected officials got naked so that you remember to make sure that your mail-in ballot is NOT submitted without its secrecy envelope!’

Trump’s ‘patriotic education’ campaign aligns with autocrats like China’s Xi Jinping and Hungary’s Viktor Orban

“Patriotic moms and dads are going to demand that their children are no longer fed hateful lies about this country,” Trump said. “American parents are not going to accept indoctrination in our schools, cancel culture at work or the repression of traditional faith, culture and values in the public square. Not anymore.”

There’s nothing particularly new about this latest shot across the bow in the United States’ divisive culture war, apart from the president using his bully pulpit to make it. Trump can’t exactly rewrite textbooks and curriculums, which are the province of the states and local districts. But it’s yet another dynamite charge to stoke a nativist base. Weeks away from an election, Trump said his administration would launch a national panel to create a “pro-American curriculum,” which he dubbed the “1776 Commission.”

That appears to be a White House response to the “1619 Project,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning set
