THE Gold Coast Bulletin is launching the next instalment in its Future Gold Coast series, bringing the city’s leaders together to capitalise on opportunities for the Gold Coast in a post-COVID era.

Future Gold Coast (Reset) will look at the challenges and opportunities across a range of sectors, including tourism, health, education, real estate, manufacturing and entertainment.

The series follows the highly successful Future Gold Coast event last year which examined what the Gold Coast needed to position itself for 2030.

Bulletin editor Rachel Hancock said the campaign would focus on the Gold Coast now, and the many opportunities that had arisen since the coronavirus pandemic hit.

“No doubt the pandemic has hit the Gold Coast incredibly hard, with tourism, education and small business – the lifeblood of this city – suffering the most,’’ Ms Hancock said.

“But out of COVID-19, there have also been some golden opportunities. People are turning to the Gold Coast for its wonderful lifestyle. You don’t have to be in a capital city on the east coast to run a business anymore. COVID has shown the nation that.

“Future Gold Coast (Reset) will reset the city’s agenda working in partnership with key leaders and sectors to champion the Gold Coast across all levels of government.’’

WHY CONVENTION CENTRE UPGRADE IS NEEDED

The Star and Village Roadshow are major partners of the event. Partners include City of Gold Coast, Destination Gold Coast, Ray White The Surfers Paradise Group and Southern Cross University.

The campaign will run across print and digital, culminating in an event at Movie World on November 19, featuring panellists Mayor Tom Taate, Village Roadshow CEO Clark Kirby, The Star Gold Coast COO Jessica Mellor, Destination Gold Coast chairman Paul Donovan, Ray White The Surfers Paradise Group CEO Andrew Bell and Southern Cross University chief marketing officer Dean Gould.

Keynote speaker will be The Star’s chairman John O’Neill AO.
