Cloud-based Administrative System Powers Up VUMC’s Allied Health Programs, Automates Admissions & Regulatory Compliance Reporting

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – October 13, 2020 – (

​On the heels of a rigorous two-year process, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has selected Orbund’s Einstein Student Information System (SIS) for its Allied Health program, Orbund LLC announced today. VUMC Center for Programs in Allied Health (CPiAH) expects to be fully implemented on Orbund’s enterprise administrative software in February 2021.

“We serve a rapidly growing segment of healthcare,” said Dr. Geoffrey Fleming, who oversaw the student information system project in his role as Vice President of Continuous Professional Development (Pediatric Critical Care). “Allied health programs like ours have particular demands in admissions, attendance and regulatory compliance.”

Part of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, CPiAH prepares its students for high demand, technical careers, such as diagnostic medical sonography, neurodiagnostic technology, nuclear medicine, and perfusion.

Liam Gillick Taps Into an Uncanny Half-Dreaming State in a New Exhibition. See Images of the Fantastical Show Here

A giant floating ear. A unicorn. A mathematical formula. Liam Gillick’s third solo exhibition with Alfonso Artiaco Gallery in Naples has the hazy feel of slipping in and out of a dream state—and that’s exactly the point.

The poetically titled show (“It should feel like unicorns are about to appear a.k.a. Half Awake Half Asleep”) features a series of new wall works by Gillick and takes its inspiration from the artist’s own 1997 book, Discussion Island/Big Conference Centre.

In the book, Gillick’s characters are described as existing in a half-conscious state, but it’s not as disorienting as it might seem: during moments between waking and sleeping, the characters experience the clearest perceptions of their personal and political surroundings and the abstract concepts that frame contemporary life.

Florida Department of Education Taps Pioneering Nonprofit to Boost Entrepreneurial Skills, Mindset for High School Students

BARRINGTON, Ill., Sept. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Uncharted Learning, a national nonprofit committed to helping students develop resilience and problem solving skills through entrepreneurship today announced its collaboration with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and the Florida Association of Career and Technical Education (FACTE) as part of the state’s effort to give more students access to high-quality courses that develop entrepreneurial skills and mindsets. Through the program, FLDOE is investing $1 million in entrepreneurial education, including grants to K-12 school districts and secondary schools that want to offer entrepreneurship programs.

Uncharted Learning has been selected as one of two organizations that will share best practices for developing entrepreneurship education and training programs in K-12 schools and tips for completing the grant applications. Beginning Sept. 29, FLDOE and FACTE will host a series of webinars for school districts and Florida College System institutions interested in submitting grant applications.
