Education Foundation awards $116K in teacher grants

Continuing its tradition of supporting teachers, the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County recently awarded $116,000 in GoTeach! Classroom grants.

On Oct. 8, the foundation’s president and CEO James Gavrilos presented 73 individual grants to Palm Beach County teachers and schools through its virtual ceremony.

Annually, the Education Foundation distributes individual grants up to $1,000 for an individual teacher as well as $1,500 for a team effort. Thanks to a grant from the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation, the Education Foundation was able to provide up to $3,000 to each recipient of the new Go Reach! grants

North Cook Area Teachers Recipients of State Awards

Several educators from the North Cook ISC region are among the recipients of the state’s most distinguished educator awards, announced by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) today.

ISBE announced 10 Regional Teachers of the Year who are now in the running for the 2021 Illinois Teacher of the Year – the state’s highest honor for exemplary educators. National Science Foundation awards $1.3 million grant to MPC’s Marine Advanced Technology Education Center

The National Science Foundation awarded a four-year, $1.3 million grant to the Marine Advanced Technology Education Center at Monterey Peninsula College to support community college students to participate in its global underwater robotics competition.

The center was established at MPC in 1997 with funding from the National Science Foundation. The Remote Operated Vehicle Competition was created as a core part of the center’s mission to educate and prepare students for the technical workforce. Remotely operated vehicles, or ROVs, are used in a variety of underwater activities including construction and inspection, search and recovery, energy operations, aquaculture, national defense, conservation, and research and exploration by scientists such as those at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Northeastern student Taylor Labbe as a recipient of the 2020 Education Corporation Presidents’ Scholarship.

Labbe is in her senior year at Northeastern University where she is pursuing a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation awards more than $255,000 to improve children’s oral health

Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, awarded more than $255,000 to 16 nonprofit and community organizations through its community grants program. These organizations work to improve children’s oral health across the state.
