| I was serving in the US Navy. We were in port (stateside in Norfolk,Virginia). I lived on the ship while most people had houses off base or stayed elsewhere while they were off duty. |
A chilling account called "Evil Aboard" by Walter C.

The beds are three beds high with curtains to block the light that's always on in there. It had two doors to go in and out. These doors were large metal doors with large latching handles. And as any sailor could acknowledge, the doors are loud when opening and closing. The area is small and crowded when everyone is onboard. The berthing area was very quiet when we were in port. Also, there wasn't anybody there at this time because it was a holiday weekend.
I had a late watch and was just going to bed. I couldn't sleep so I decided to read a book I borrowed from someone. It was called Hostage to the Devil and was about true stories of exorcisms. I was about halfway through the book and reading it was a lot like watching the movie The Exorcist. It was horrifying to think these stories could be true. Because of that, it put a chill down my spine.
After a little while of reading, I heard this voice come from nowhere like it was right next to my ear. It said my name slow and not of this world. I know it was evil. It made me jump from my bed and scour the berthing compartment calling to see if someone was there. There was no one. I looked in every bed and know that neither door had opened during this time. That was enough for me. I packed the book away where it stayed until it was returned. To this day, that voice still echoes in my head and haunts me. I've never had another experience like it. Never had any mental health issues. I personally believe by reading these accounts and having some skepticism about religion opened my subconscious to wherever this evil thing called to me from. Now I believe.
