A Hexham vet dealt with ghosts rather than goats and terrors rather than terriers, when he spent a night in a haunted house.
Vet Eric Nelson – of the Hadrian Veterinary Group in Hexham – spent the night in Beamish Hall, County Durham, to raise money for animal charities and ended up seeing a ghost!
Beamish Hall is said to have several ghosts, both old and modern, including the famous grey lady. She is said to appear near Beamish Burn, after she suffocated in a trunk she was hiding in to avoid an arranged marriage.
Mr Nelson said: “So far we have raised more than £300, but I certainly got more than I bargained for on the night!
“At about 1pm I went up stairs to a room I knew had comfy chairs in, with the intention of having a bit of a sleep.
“But as I sat there I became conscious of a glow, I sat and watched it and as other members came in it appeared that I was the only one who could see it.
“We did record a five to six degree drop in temperature in the room, however, and when we later went down to the basement we experienced the same phenomenon.
“I keep trying to think of a rational explanation, but I can’t!”
