The problem for us is not so much the existence of Big Cats as pets... more our imposition of a law against them.
Nearby Holmfirth was home to a lovely pet toiger at one point ... for instance. When the law was brought in against them... many owners turned their pets out into the wild rather than having them put down. Which is exactly waht I would have done! These animals have bred in the wild and now roam our countryside. |

We have the same problem over here in the States. The last article I read (about a man in NY who had a tiger and an alligator in his apartment!) said that we don't have any regulations on big animals on the pet level. Just on the breeder level. We've had several instances here in our state of tigers and cougars set loose and having to be tracked down and unfortunately shot. Sad ending for the animal.
I'm curious though I thought some of the animals over there like the "beast of bodmin moor" had been seen for centuries? Patt |

My Sister and her friends saw a big cat around the Blackmoorfoot area of Huddersfield. I also worked with two people who also saw big cats in the area.
Morelenmir and I have found sheep corpses whilst trekking the moors... and they certainly do not look like the victims of wild dogs. The corpses were hidden in a similar way to how TV documentaries show wild cats as doing. Again, dogs would not do this. |

sorry your cousin has lost some sheep but you cant blame them what else are they supposed to live on they never asked people to take them from there natrual enviroment exploit them and then release them into the british countryside if you know what i mean i think people should count them selves lucky that they dont view humans as prey

hi,agree with you there faeden(for once).we in n.ireland have a panther and a puma stalking our north coast.irresponsible people buy these animals when they are cubs, find them too hard & expensive to handle when they grow,so release them into the wild to fend for themselves.only now have the authorities emended the wild animals act and brought it into line with the rest of the uk...not a minute too soon.these people shouldnt be allowed to own a hamster never mind a large carnivorous killer.

i know many will think im telling porkys as i calim to have see a ghosts ans a ufo i have also seen a black panther when i was about 20 when comeing back from friends house on a summers evening i dont think they are beasts they are groups of cats that are breeding since the circus let free many wild cats into the british countryside when they came under the dangerious animals act they have the common sense to stay way from humans that being humans will just kill them i hope they prosper and continue to take farmers live stock they should not have been used to profit the greedy circus owners in the first place
