Unexplained noises, mysterious shadows and a distinctly chilly air – these are the "extras" that movie-goers might expect when they take a trip to Cineworld.

Cinema staff have dubbed screen six the "haunted screen" after a string of reports claiming there's been ghostly goings-on in there.

Both staff and customers reckon a resident spook is to blame for the strange noises, icy temperatures, and fleeting shadows they've been witnessing regularly. So is this a case for the ghostbusters or is it simply a clumsy projectionist and a dodgy air-conditioning system?

Co-manager Bharti Parmar said: "When it was the Co-op, they used to say it was haunted, and there's been some strange goings-on in screen six since we opened. I ensure I've got someone with me when I go in there!"

Herald & Post film reviewer Matt Adcock said: "As a Christian I do believe that there are spiritual forces operating among us, both for good and evil. Having reviewed some ropey films in screen six I can't believe it's a positive influence. Perhaps it's the ghost of a bad
filmmaker being punished by having to sit through countless showings of films like the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?"

Now film fans are being dared to venture into screen six this Hallowe'en Saturday for a 12.15am showing of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

Enter if you dare...

 Re: Cinema's Haunted Screen
The old Tudor cinema in Huddersfield was reputedly haunted.

It was investigated around 5 or 6 years ago by the G.P.I. (Glossop Paranormal Investigators) who had a report up on their website... they even sent me one of the photographs they took on their investigation.

Unfortunately, I can't find their site any more.

I still have the piccie at home somewhere though. I'll see if I can dig it out.
