WikiLeaks UFO rumors have added a sci-fi twist to the current cyber wars. Yet the WikiLeaks UFO documents that have been teased for days might live down to the hype after all.
Julian Assange recently bragged that he was holding on to classified files which proved alien life. But for all the secrets Assange may or may not be holding, having files that proved the existence of aliens seemed far-fetched. New reports today indicate that the WikiLeaks UFO secrets could be just that, and do not prove anything conclusively.
In a online chat on the Guardian a week ago, Assange was asked whether he had documents relating to extraterrestrials. Although he said that many "weirdos" e-mail him on the topic, they often don't have original, self-authored files. Yet he did tease that unpublished parts of his "Cablegate" archive have references to aliens.
With that, many wonder if these WikiLeaks UFO cables did have proof that we are not alone. After all, Assange already leaked other embarrassing, controversial talks involving diplomats, so aliens could certainly be a talking point among them as well. However, new rumors indicate that if these files are leaked, they won't have too many bombshells.
According to Asia One News, "Internet sources" claim that the documents just have offhand comments about aliens, rather than talk of an alien cover-up. Although files about such a cover-up could be another reason why governments want Assange locked up, this might not be the smoking gun.
Not all leaks are created equal, as even the "Cablegate" files did not reveal that many damaging national secrets - in spite of the backlash. Despite the best efforts of Assange, there may be some classified secrets that even he can't get, or aren't as good as others.
Given all the fury he has unleashed so far, the bar might be set too high for future WikiLeaks document dumps. Therefore, if UFO-related fields are let out, anything short of proof about alien landings, Area 51 and other conspiracy theories could be a letdown. As such, these new rumors could already be lowering expectations, to lessen the disappointment.
If and when these WikiLeaks UFO leaks are let out, they will be a major topic of discussion online, and among alien lovers everywhere. Yet Assange and his site are like everything and everyone else out there - as not everything they do can shake up the world.
If this story doesn't turn out like everyone thought -- or hoped for -- then it puts more pressure on the site to make up for it next time. Of course, no one knows how many more chances they will get these days.
