First and foremost, hello to you all.
I must make my thoughts regarding ghosts very clear before I continue and that is I am a 100% non believer, until this weekend.
My wife and I along with my brother and sister in law have just returned from a wonderful weekend staying at Madeley Court hotel in Shropshire. I had no information about this place as it was booked by my brother. My brother had upgraded before we left but I chose not to, settling for a basic room just off the main building.
It was only after talking with the receptionist that we found out that the place was haunted. As a non believer I decided to upgrade to a room called the Gables (No 11) which was on the top floor of the main building and this was for our last night.
The day before and still none the wiser of the so called haunted priory, we managed to secure our own dining room for 4 which was lovely. This was when the first strange thing happened. We were all seated waiting for our starters having a drink and a laugh when this strange smell appeared. It lasted very briefly and I mentioned to the other three but they all denied smelling anything. Around half an hour later it appeared again and this time my brother who was seated next to me could smell it too. Once again it lasted around 10 seconds and was gone. This happened about another 3 or 4 times during dinner. I cannot describe the smell as I had never smelt it before but it wasn't pleasant although not overly powerful.
Onto our last evening and again we secured the small dining room. I am now aware that this place is supposed to be haunted and we have upgraded to room 11.
Once again and as soon as I sat down the smell appeared. Once again nobody else could smell it and I was becoming increasingly nervous as the night went on. The second time I smelt it my sister in law did as well, however, my wife and brother could not.
It was around 11 o'clock that we all said goodnight and with a bit of ribbing from my brother, off to bed we went. I have to admit I did not sleep that well at all, waking up very often and my mind racing all over the place. This is now the second strange occurrence. I am not sure on the time but I know I was awake with my eyes closed. I was cuddling upto my wife and I always intertwine my feet with hers when I felt three pressure movements go across my feet at the bottom of the bed. I pulled my legs away but did not look down to the bottom of the bed. Again, after about five minutes the same thing happened with my wife's feet not moving at all. They were not a heavy pressure but small and very definite. I am now in the process of trying to get some expert advice about these happenings and am hoping that maybe some of you can help.
Thank you

im no expert, but, its said a poltergeist carries a foul odour and any spirit can make you have different feelings, like you said you felt nervous, i have been made to feel very sick while doing EVP several times. i have only smelt a nice flowery smell once. i would say something was trying to grab you attention, and they can touch you aswell. try calling the hotel and asking what others have felt and what has happened there but dont tell them first what you experienced, is there any chance you could stay there again and take a recorder with you? if you can get some background you can work around it. some 'things' can be quite nasty and making you feel uncomfortable is one of their way's of saying 'get out of my space'. keep an eye out for things at home as they can follow. im not saying it was nasty, it could be just a prankster. i hope someone else comes along to help you.

also, reading back, you didnt say you felt uncomfortable while in bed so it could have been two different entities. just a thought.

Thank you for your reply.
In what way do you mean uncomfortable?
I am still trying to pass it off as something else rather than it being something there but the more I read the more I am convinced it is not me being silly.

hi, like you said you felt nervous, they can make you feel paranoid, create an atmosphere so bad you have to get out, all sorts, you could be right it could be nothing, you may never experience anything ever again, you could probably never get to the bottom of it, something terrible happened to me 20 years ago and im still trying to get answers!!

i have found you this site, i dont know if you have ever heard of TAPS? but they are very good, im not so good at putting things into words! they explain just about everything, scroll down to the bottom of the page on the link and its all in bold writing about the things you need to know, take a look at 'get to know your ghosts'

the smell could be pretty much anything, drains, toilets, kitchen, but you was later was touched and that is pretty much harder to explain away.

forgot to add, with the smell did you notice it being cold at any point, a sudden temperature drop?

I think you had an interesting evening, paranormal or not,did you manage to ask what experiences people had there in the past?
If you research the place a bit maybye if previous claims match yours it may put your mind at ease.
